Cover Reveal: Just About Healing by Victoria Escobar!

Expected Publication: January 14th, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Fiction

Book Synopsis:
My sister was my lifeline, my beacon, my North Star. I could rely on her, depend on her, turn to her when the world was just too hard to face. She could depend on me for the same.

I laughed with her; cried with her; rejoiced her success; and part of me died with her too. I lived for her, loved no one greater than her. Without Savannah, I had no one to turn to, no one to share my soul with. My other half, closer than twins we were, was just gone.

Grief broke my soul and crushed my heart to dust. I didn’t know how to put the pieces back together. I wasn’t sure I even want to without her. How could I live knowing she would never share anything with me again?

Time, supposedly, heals all wounds. I don't believe that. But I do know there are other ways to heal. I just had to find them.

About the Author:
Once upon a time, long, long ago, Victoria was born in sunny Florida, except it wasn’t sunny; it was the middle of the night. Midnight actually, well, two minutes past, but she tried really hard for midnight.

Victoria has been to twenty one schools in her lifetime. With all the continual switching around, she’s relied on her imagination for friends and books for close companions. In high school she remained apart from the whole and spent most of her time in the library either reading or writing.

Currently, Victoria has set down roots in New York with her family. She still reads and writes every day. She finished her debut novel Of Gaea in the Spring 2013 and its sequel in Winter 2014. She has several other ideas and projects in the works and hopes to continue writing for a long time to come.

Reviews... I'm "licking" my wounds.

As a blogger, I normally don't read reviews. Why you might ask? Because I want to make sure the opinion I form about the book is completely mine. With that said, I had to read some of the reviews of one the books I'm credited as an editor. I completely loved the book and I wanted to see what the readers thought! Now I completely understand why some authors don't read reviews of their own work. According to this review, I guess the book needs to edited.

I sat here thinking oh  my. Maybe I shouldn't be editing, maybe I don't know what I am doing, I'm going to quit editing... But then I would be letting that one review rule my dreams, and that is not happening! I was thinking why would this person say that and I believe it all comes back to the -ME-...

As an editor, you have the choice to accept cringe worthy grammatical mistakes, to make the story life like. Or fix it, making the sentence some what cold. I know that Me vs I is something we are taught in grade school, but there is just something comforting in a Me statement vs an I statement. No one speaks perfect English 24/7, so why write a story about an imperfect life, in perfect English? That is the beauty of being a writer and an author. Most people get that it was purposely left that way. Obviously there are a few people that like to complain about the smallest detail.

Before you complain about the writing and editing, take a moment to think was it purposely done that way to make the story three dimensional or was it an overlooked error.

My friends know me too well...

It's amazing how one person a can say a phrase wrong and then everyone starts staying it wrong... *Curled up in the feeble position...* Hahahaa

A little word and comma play for thought!

I love to edit. I might be a little crazy, but I love making the characters personalities, emotions and thoughts really pop off the pages. It's amazing how one little comma or removal of a comma can really change the tone of the passage. Also using the correct word in a sentence.

My favorite examples are a little naughty, but it gets the point across and I am sure you've seen these examples on Pinterest or Facebook: I just helped my Uncle Jack off a horse. Eeep! How about: I just helped my Uncle Jack, off a horse. A Comma can change everything! Also, I rather go for a walk than cuddle. I don't know. I rather go for a walk then cuddle. Then vs than can sometimes be  missed.

I know those examples might be a little over the top, but it shows how just one wrong word can completely change what you wanting your readers to read!

Just my little two cents for today! <3 Back to the editing cave for a bit I go!
